LAS CRUCES - The Las Cruces International Film Festival brought an array of films to southern New Mexico.

From features with elite camera work, to conceptually challenging narratives, to tear-jerking documentaries, to chuckle-worthy animations about farting ducks, the festival provided something for everyone.

Here are the festival's nine award winners, plus three more movies that deserve your attention.

This film follows a Border Patrol agent on the anniversary of the death of his son. The agent must train a bold newcomer, who has not yet witnessed some of the horrors of the difficult job.

When the pair encounters an injured pregnant woman attempting to travel across the border, their humanity is tested in the deepest ways. The film generated talk in the halls between theaters as its subject matter is timely in the current political environment.
